Engaging with NELC about premises use
Thank you to John Whitehead of North East Lincolnshire Council who gave a presentation to the Third Sector Forum on 9th June regarding their new document “Community (Third Sector) use of Assets – Premises Guide”.
The document and its associated processes and flowchart explain clearly how organisations can engage with NELC to identify and potentially transfer publicly/council owned premises into community use.
Asset Transfer is never simple, but NELC have moved forward in ensuring processes and contacts within the Council are now much more clear to all.
NELC premises guide – Community Use of Assets
North East Lincolnshire Council has recognised that there have been issues in the past with third sector organisations dealing with NELC in relation to the use of publicly/council owned assets – buildings and land.
As part of the Third Sector policy framework, NELC has produced a “Premises Guide – Community (Third Sector) use of Assets“ and a workflow process.
On 9th June 2009, John Whitehead from NELC Asset Management presented this document and its reasoning to the NEL Third Sector Forum. The powerpoint presentation from that event can be downloaded here.
The document itself is freely available from the NELC website, as is the workflow diagram which explains how processes are supposed to work.
